Trinity Western Active Chess Championship 2016

Congratulations to all our winners!  It was wonderful to see so many first-time adult and junior players come out to the first annual Trinity Western Active Chess Championship. Thank you to all our 22 players who hailed from various parts of BC’s Lower Mainland and from WA State.

Special Thank Yous go out to Winner’s Circle Trophies, Trinity Western University, and McDonald’s for their generous support.

zz (1)Each player played 5 rounds of 25 mins + 5 sec increment games.  Some players teamed up with their parent/child to vie for the Best Parent-Child Team trophy.  Players also enjoyed the benefit of game analysis with Candidate Master Joshua Doknjas between rounds.

IMG_8990a The “Beat the Masters” side events during the lunch break were very popular.  Players were invited to sign-up to either play CM Joshua Doknjas in a timed 5 mins simult.; or play NM John Doknjas one-on-one with John having 1 min vs. 5 mins for all challengers.  All participants received a chess-related prize for their efforts.
